God Love Everyone

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

Topics: God love everyone; accepting others

Scripture: Romans 15:7

Needed: Bible, hand-held microphone

Sermon

(In this sermon, you will be interviewing the children with simple questions. Use the hand-held microphone to get the children’s responses so everyone can hear them. Every child does not have to answer all the questions. Just pick out two or three for each question.)

Good morning, children. Today, I want to talk to you about how we are all different, and how we are the same.

Interview questions:

  1. What is your favorite subject at school?
  2. What is your favorite TV show?
  3. What is your favorite food?
  4. What color are your eyes?

(You don’t have to use all the question.)

God made some people alike in some ways and different in others. Listen to Romans 15:7 to find out what God wants us to do for each other whether we are alike or different. (read or have an older child read Romans 15:7.) When we accept others, it means we want to show them God’s love by treating them in a kind and fair way. God loves everyone, and we should share his love with them.

Prayer

Dear God, we thank you that you love us. Help us to love others who are different than us. Amen.

Super Simple Homemade Modeling Dough

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

This one is fun and no-bake; so, let the children mix it up. Making the dough is as much fun as creating art with the dough.

You need:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup salt
  • water
  • food coloring (optional)

Make sure everyone washes their hands before you start (I’m just saying). Mix the flour and salt. Slowly pour in the water while mixing it with a mixing spoon. Once it begins to clump up, the children can use their hands to begin kneading the dough. Continue to slowly add water until you get a dough, and all the salt and flour mixture is included. If the dough feels sticky, sprinkle a little flour on top and knead it in.

Once you have your dough, separate into even clumps. Use your fingers to create a bowl in each clump. Drop in two or three drops of food coloring. Knead the food coloring into the dough until the color is evenly distributed. (You can also create it marble-like by stopping before the color is even or by combining two different colors.)

You can use cookie cutters, rolling pins, etc to shape the dough. Colors can be combined to create other colors or multi-colored art. It will harden in about 12 hours. You made need to turn it over for the bottom side to dry. If you don’t use the food coloring, the children can paint them after they dry.

HINT: When we do messy projects like this one, the children work on flat serving tray to contain the mess. It minimizes the amount that gets on the table and floor. (Yes, some will get on the table and floor.)

HINT: If you don’t want it to dry out, seal it in a zip-lock bag.

Mission Explorers

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

We will start our Mission Explorers program on August 20, 2008 from 6:30-7:30 PM. Mission Explorers is a missions program for children that runs through the school year. In Mission Explorers the children learn about missionaries and their ministries. Mission Explorers also get involved in many mission projects of their own.

Mission Explorers is hands-on missions for children and involves:

  1. Learning about the culture of the people missionaries work with
  2. Playing the games of the culture
  3. Tasting the food of the culture
  4. Learning about the arts of the culture
  5. Learning Bible skills by studying the favorite passages of the missionaries
  6. Getting involved in local ministries and projects

Elmer Perry and Nancy Robinson will lead Mission Explorers this year. Pray for us! Also, we welcome and encourage the involvement of parents in the program.
