Tickets to Share
Themes: Tell others about Jesus
Scripture: 1 Peter 3:15
Need: Tickets (just about any kind will work)
Sermon
Good morning, children. Have you ever been to the movies? In order to get into the movies, you had to have a ticket. (give each of the children a ticket) Let’s imagine for a minute that someone gave you a ticket to your favorite movie. They not only gave you one ticket, but they gave you several tickets. You wouldn’t just keep all the tickets for yourself. You would hand the tickets out to your friends and family. After you gave tickets to friends and family, let’s pretend you still have tickets left. You could give tickets to everyone you met. Then you would have a lot of people to go and watch the movie with you. Some people might not want a ticket, but you would still try to give them one, wouldn’t you?
Tickets to a movie are a nice thing to share, but we actually have something better than that we can share with people. We can share God’s love with other people. We can share with others what we know about God and Jesus. The nice thing is we don’t need a ticket or anything special to tell others about Jesus. We can just share with them what we know. We can help others who are sick or hungry or need clothes, and show them that God loves them.
Our verse today tells us something about sharing Jesus with others. (read or have an older child read 1 Peter 3:15) Peter tells us we need to always be ready to tell others about Jesus.
Prayer
Dear God, help us to always be ready to share with others what we know about Jesus. Amen.
