God Answers Prayer

Themes: Prayer

Scripture: Philippians 4:19

Need: A baby doll, a pointed stick (like a skewer), and a plastic apple

Sermon

Good morning, children. (take out the baby doll and hold it in your arms like a baby) If this was a real baby, someone would need to care for it. They would make sure the baby had the things it needs like food, water, milk, hugs, and toys to play with.

(read or have an older child read Philippians 4:19)

The Bible tells us to ask God for the things we need. Our verse promises God will supply the things we need, but sometimes, we ask God for something and we don’t get it. (show the sharp stick) Would you let the baby play with a sharp stick? No. The baby might get hurt. In the same way, God says no because something is not good for us. (show the apple) Now, an apple is good for you. But the baby might chock on the apple pieces. The baby doesn’t have teeth to chew the apple, but as he grows, he will. Just like the baby is not ready to eat apples, we may not be ready for something we ask from God. God may be telling us to wait.

When we pray to God, we can be sure that his answer is what is best for us.

Prayer

Lord, through this day, in work and play, please bless each thing we do. May we be honest, loving, kind, and obedient to you. Amen.
