Care Package For Victoria

Everyone needs to bring a gift for Victoria next week, April 29. We will be sending her a package. Some ideas of the things they can use:

  • Pencils, pens, paper
  • Story books (for her sisters)
  • Small toys for her sisters
  • Hair bows, brushes, etc

In selecting items, remember that they have to travel all the way to Africa. No candies that might melt. When selecting items keep in mind the ages of the girls:

Victoria—age 13-16
Josephine and Jessica—age 5-7

Bible Verse:

“Anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me welcomes not only me but also my Father who sent me.”

Mark 9:37 (NLT)

A Cup of Water

Many people in the world do not have clean water to drink or cook with.  In Southeast Asia after the 2004 tsunami, many people were left without fresh water.  Christians, like Sam Bandela have been working to help them people get fresh water, rebuild, and learn to provide for their families by teaching them skills they can use.

We many times take for granted the things we have.  Many in the world do not have good drinking water, much less running water.  All creatures need water to survive, and man is no different.  Thanks to people like Sam, many now have fresh water to drink.

Bible Verse:

“Anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me welcomes not only me but also my Father who sent me.” —Mark 9:37 (NLT)

Easter Egg Hunt A Success!

Sunday, April 5th, 2009

First, let me thank all the parents and grandparents who brought their children to the hunt. We enjoyed our time with your children. If you do not have a church home, we hope you will consider Calvary Baptist Church.

I want to take an opportunity to thank everyone who made the Easter Egg Hunt a success.  I could never do it without the great group of volunteers who make everything happen at one time.  Sam Jervis and Jennifer Allen did a great job with the face painting.  Peggy Brown greeted everyone warmly and helped get all the children registered.  Anita and Amanda Smith helped the children with crafts, doing a great job as always.  Pastor Bill and Tina Jervis were my photographers, and we will show pictures from the hunt in the 11 AM worship service on April 19.  Chuck and Stephanie Jervis, Alana Partin, Melinda and Leah Schnell, Doris Welch, and Karla Linder helped hide all the eggs.

The most important thing was the telling of the Easter story.  I put this into the very capable hands of Sheri McMahon.  I enjoyed watching her engage and interact with the children and the elements of the story.  She took this important task and did it with joy.

I also want to thank our Mission Explorers group.  These children took two Wednesday evenings to stuff all the eggs. Thanks to Susan Wait for getting our signs done, making registration cards, and all the many other things she does to help us make events happen. Thanks to everyone who donated candy, eggs, and money to make the hunt a success.  Children’s ministry would never happen without all the many people who come together and contribute.  Thank you!
