Exploring God’s World

We had a good time at our first meeting. We learned about God’s creation of the world. We learned about how a spoon can turn things upside down! We also discovered we can poke sharp things through a baggy of water without it popping. Join us this week as we continue our discoveries into God’s world and learn more about our amazing God!

Children’s Worship

In Isaiah 6, we read about Isaiah’s vision of God in the temple. The very presence of God rocked the temple. Rock bands only dream of playing so loud it knocks the dust off the columns of the arena.

The important thing in this passage is not the volume, but the response of Isaiah, “Here I am, send me.” (Isaiah 6:8) We all need a readiness to respond to God’s call.

Exploring God’s Creation Begins June 17

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Starting June 17, we will change our Wednesday night program for the children. We will explore God’s creation through Bible stories, science, and art. I have some fun experiments to do, like poking a pencil through a bag of water (and it not exploding all over the place), the Mentos and coke fountain, and many other fun science projects I have learned. We might even build some simple robots. While we are having all this fun, we will learn some things, not only about God’s creation and science, but about God and our relationship with Him.

Come join us for Exploring God’s Creation on Wednesday nights from 6:30-7:30 PM. You will have fun and learn something in the process.

Exploring God’s Creation is for children who have completed grades K-6.

Easter Egg Hunt A Success!

Sunday, April 5th, 2009

First, let me thank all the parents and grandparents who brought their children to the hunt. We enjoyed our time with your children. If you do not have a church home, we hope you will consider Calvary Baptist Church.

I want to take an opportunity to thank everyone who made the Easter Egg Hunt a success.  I could never do it without the great group of volunteers who make everything happen at one time.  Sam Jervis and Jennifer Allen did a great job with the face painting.  Peggy Brown greeted everyone warmly and helped get all the children registered.  Anita and Amanda Smith helped the children with crafts, doing a great job as always.  Pastor Bill and Tina Jervis were my photographers, and we will show pictures from the hunt in the 11 AM worship service on April 19.  Chuck and Stephanie Jervis, Alana Partin, Melinda and Leah Schnell, Doris Welch, and Karla Linder helped hide all the eggs.

The most important thing was the telling of the Easter story.  I put this into the very capable hands of Sheri McMahon.  I enjoyed watching her engage and interact with the children and the elements of the story.  She took this important task and did it with joy.

I also want to thank our Mission Explorers group.  These children took two Wednesday evenings to stuff all the eggs. Thanks to Susan Wait for getting our signs done, making registration cards, and all the many other things she does to help us make events happen. Thanks to everyone who donated candy, eggs, and money to make the hunt a success.  Children’s ministry would never happen without all the many people who come together and contribute.  Thank you!
